Getting your tax gripes to Washington Print E-mail

The Middle East Council of the American Chamber of Commerce (MECACC) has sponsored an on-line possibility for communicating your message concerning new tax legislation to your Representative in the House and to your Senators.

They have also prepared a draft letter highlighting the need for support for legislation to be introduced in the 111th which will be comparable to the "Working American Competitiveness Act" introduced in the House and the Senate in the 110th session.  You can use this draft or create a letter of your own.

Alleviating the burdensome U.S. tax on Americans working overseas is essential for the nation's prosperity and competitiveness.  ACA strongly urges you to take advantage of this convenient tool to write NOW to your representatives in Congress.  Important tax reform legislation will be under review in the spring of 2009.

Americans working overseas are often overlooked in the vital role they play, not only by stimulating American Exports thereby creating American jobs, but also by acting as American Ambassadors in their respective international settings.

Current U.S. tax policy discourages Americans from working overseas and discourages U.S. employers from sending them overseas.  Our tax policy also makes Americans too expensive for foreign companies to employ.  Once they are working overseas, Americans are often double taxed, once by the U.S., and once by their host country.

You can help eliminate the burdensome tax policy impose on hardworking Americans overseas.

Just follow the instructions below. Please take a moment to:

1.       Click on www.MECACC.org , or paste it in your search engine

2.       Click on "MECACC's Direct Connection to Congress" either at the lower left or top center of the page.

3.       Enter your ZIP Code in the next window, and your representative's photo and email contact prompt will come up

4.       Click on your representative's email prompt and it will automatically ask you to select a message or create your own.   Follow the prompts to send a note to your Senators and Congressperson urging them to support tax reform for Americans work abroad.

Our thanks to all of you for contacting Congress and our sincere thanks to MECCAC for sponsoring this project for easy communication with Congress and to The American Business Association – Eastern Province (ABA-EP) who paid for it.
